On the heels of a very productive discussion this past Friday on the recent Bailout (ahem, Rescue) Bill in Oakland, I am proposing this titillating subject for urgent exploration: "Is posse comitatus dead?" The title is borrowed from the AlterNet transcription of a Democracy Now! interview published Wednesday regarding the deployment of the Infantry Division's 1st Brigade to US territory last Wednesday "to help with civil unrest and crowd control," that last according to Army Times (since amended).
